After my exciting time at Gedling I am returning to my theme of 'On Your Own Doorstep' because peeps often have very little idea of what lies on their own doorstep or pass by places of historical interest daily without stopping, visiting and fully appreciating what is there. This week, I have dived into the archives and retrieved a blog I posted last year showing the Sandwell Priory in the Sandwell Valley. Another local site which is free to visit! Enjoy the pics.
Sandwell Priory was a small medieval Benedictine monastery house, founded in the 12th century, it had a fairly turbulent history and was dissolved in 1525.
Further, if one visits the Sandwell Valley Farm and Museum there is a display giving information about life and how people lived through 8,000 years in the Sandwell Valley. (There is an admission charge for the Farm)
For further details about places to visit and events in Sandwell visit www.sandwell.gov.uk or the local website for your own county or city.
Have a great week, whatever you choose to do.
