Sofia and Donald in Australia

Howde Folks,

Last Sunday Donald and I were at the Cenotaph and it was really sad but we were pleased to be there and show our respects. It surprised us, but we saw many others who were also in the afterlife and several who had ended their days on earth at Flanders Field. To those reading this, you never know when one or more of us are by your side.

Now, we have rushed down to Australia where our family are living and would like to give you an update on how things have gone since they left Haslington Towers. My beautiful children have left school and are working with Miranda learning all aspects of the business. They are on the board of directors. I am so proud of them. They are happy to work in the shops and restaurants and experience everything firsthand so that they understand the jobs from the point of view of the employees. Derek is still disappointed that they chose to ignore university. He had big ideas for them; they were going to get wonderful degrees and have eminent positions in their chosen walks of life which for Donny was to be a heart surgeon following in his father's footsteps. Sophie would have a greater choice but was to marry someone of status and importance. Their previous friends, Stephen Brook-Bank and Annabelle Proctor-Lees from their Nottingham schools are now history. Yes, they Skyped for awhile but the promised visit and holiday in Australia never materialised. They both went onto study A levels and are now at University. Stephen or 'BB' as his friends called him is at the University of Birmingham reading medicine and will follow in his father's footsteps. Annabelle is reading Media Studies at the University of Warwick and wants to be a television presenter. Their lives are totally different from Sophie and Donny's. As is the way, things have changed and they have all moved on; they are not even in a relationship now. They both have new partners. Derek groans when he thinks of them; they have all that he wanted for the twins. He cannot accept that his children are happy and do not need degrees; their lives are sorted and their futures are bright and prosperous. They know how lucky they are and appreciate what they have. Donnie's hobby is still astronomy and Miranda has had a new Skyshed erected for him. My dear friend Miranda...

"Wow, here you both are." An exuberant Charles Urquart-Latterly joined them on the garden seat where they were admiring the view over the South Pacific Ocean.

"What are you doing here?" Donald asked him.

"Er… this is my house... remember?"

They all laughed. Charles had made his fortune in Australia and left everything to Miranda.

"I often pop down, sit here and keep an eye on things. Like you, Donald, I loved Miranda even though I hurt her but I made up for it. Now, she has both of us looking after her."

"Me too and we look after all of the family." Sofia spoke, "Charles, I was just updating our readers on events out here."

So, dear readers, this seat where we all love to sit is sited at a memorial to myself and Donald. Miranda kept her word and had an area of the garden made into a memorial for us. There is a beautiful lilypond like the one back at HT where my ashes were spread. The children love to sit here and talk to me. Miranda has been very accommodating. She runs the Charm of Cyprus extremely well and it continues to grow internationally. Derek has to be careful not to stress with his health issues. He works for the company in his capacity as a doctor and runs first aid courses. Miranda has created a music room for him and purchased every possible classical DVD for him to play on one of the top Home Entertainment Systems where he can watch classical concerts from around the world in peace and quiet. This is his special place for relaxation and apart from the housekeeper and domestic staff nobody goes into that room.

"Look, Miranda's home." Charles shouted in glee as her chauffeur drove up to the house. They all moved to the front of the house to see her. She waited for her chauffeur to open her door before alighting from the vehicle. She had learned how to be a lady after her down-trodden days under Derek's thumb at HT. She blossomed and radiated happiness with her smile. She wore elegance in her dress and no longer trudged along in tracksuits. Her make-up? Toned down, no longer plastered to hide her feelings. Sofia looked for one thing, "She still wears my friendship bracelet."

So, folks, that's life down under. Next week, we will tell you about our life or 'afterlife' at the pub. Until then, be happy and blossom like Miranda.

Love Sofia, Donald and Charles xxxx

A Pensioner!...nostalgia!

Moi! Last year 2017 in a kite flying contest! Really living life to the full as a pensioner!

Hello Everyone,

Still in the archives and noticed the day I officially became a pensioner. More than six years ago. Well, really? That long. What milestones have I had since 2012? Hmmm. None! But I'm not at the pearly gates yet so must continue enjoying life and doing what makes me happy. Holidays, the cinema, afternoon teas at the library, tram riding...

I have had loads of information on funeral plans, retirement homes and mobility aids!

Whatever stage of life you are enjoying or enduring at present, try reminiscing. Milestones? What do you want to achieve in your remaining days? If your present life is going through a bad patch hang on in there good times will come soon.

                                                   ********************************

Hello Everyone!

It is official. I can hardly believe it but today, 6th January 2012, our British government has declared me a PENSIONER. I have only just got used to being 60, but now I can have a bus pass and all kinds of concessions. I am sure I will be getting even more information in the post and on-line regarding funeral plans, retirement homes and incontinence pads.

One's pension is that time in life that one has looked forward to since starting work. It has always seemed unreal, an unattainable goal, a dream of exotic free days doing all the things one never has the time for during the working life. I can now reflect back to those awful snowy, icy, cold mornings of the 70's and 80's when I would far rather have stayed at home than got up and struggled to get to work.

I can also reminisce over the milestones of my life.

That first day at school in 1956... that first day at grammar school in 1962...

Leaving home for college in 1969...my father's face... so full of pride.

My 21st birthday, officially an adult, although the age of majority had all ready been lowered to 18!

Graduation in 1972... again my father beaming and so full of pride.

My first day as a teacher in 1973...

My first pilgrimage to Israel in 1975

My wedding day 1980 followed by the divorce day...

My first day as a holiday rep in 1987

My first book published in 2001...

My first day as a pensioner 2012....

Next stop... The pearly gates!

Have you any advice or anecdotes on becoming a pensioner that you would care to share?

                                                      ****************************

Have a great week, pensioner or not.   Lady M xxx✨✨✨

LOVE YOU FOREVER ll

Howde Folks,

Yes, Sofia still here. Lady M is excited waiting for news on her next book about us. She now knows that we are going to cost $18 and we weigh in at 305 pages, 6" x 9". She is thinking about her next launch and the events coming up.

On Sunday 5th October she will be exhibiting her books at the NOT THE HAY BOOK FESTIVAL, Bartons plc, 61, High Rd., Chilwell, Nottingham NG9 4AJ. It's free admission and open 10:00-4:00. There's entertainment and a variety of stalls. She was there last year and that's where she took the pretty pic above. If you're in the area on that date pop in.

Then, later in October she will be at the Wellington Literature Festival in Shropshire on 18th and on Saturday, 25th at the NWUK annual festival in West Bridgford, Nottingham. More about those later.

We hope you enjoyed reading about us enjoying ourselves in New York last week.

This week we're going to share one of our experiences in our Alphabet Sex game with you and next week we'll tell you how we helped someone take that step into the next room.

                                                                  ****

“It’s Canadian French. Quebec is French speaking. Rue is ‘street.’ We are standing on St Paul’s Street. Let’s stroll and see the sights.”

“Okay, lead on, my lady. Your lord will follow you.”

“This way, I think. It goes to the port.”

 “How do you know?”

“Instinct, map, and guide!” She produced a map and a tourist guide.

They strolled down the road to the port and then wandered round the streets before Donald asked the question, “Where?”

“Château Frontenac. It’s Quebec City’s most celebrated landmark. Look. It has to be that chateau.”

They both stared at the magnificent, imposing green-turreted castle with its slanting copper roof. It towered over Quebec City and could be seen from all directions.

 “Okay, inside or outside?”

“It’s a hotel now, so inside. Let’s have a look round and select a room . . . one to die for.”

“But will it beat our favourite haven in the Manhattan skies?”

“Doubt it. I think I’d like one overlooking the St Lawrence River, though. What souvenir shall we take back with us?”

 “What’s Canadian?”

 “Maple leaf.”

“Look, Sofia.” Donald had noticed some coasters in a souvenir shop with a maple leaf design on them.

“Perfect. Let’s get them. You pick one up and I’ll sort the till.”

They left the shop clutching their trophy.

“We’re a great team, Lady S. On to the next stage?”

“Definitely, my lord. Oh, wait. Look. Let’s get a T-shirt each with the maple leaf design on it as well.”

 “T-shirts?”

“Yes, and we could take presents for Billy and Jack.”

“Okay. Let’s hurry up, though. I’m getting anxious.”

 “You can’t. We’re dead.”

“You know what I mean. I’m anxious to ravish you, my lady.” He put his arms round her waist and kissed her neck. “I can’t wait.”

“Down, boy.” She laughed as she led him into another shop. They made their purchases and sped off to the hotel, both wearing their newly acquired T-shirts. In reception they looked around. “This is palatial. It’s so elegant, like we’re in a time warp. I love the oak panels—so olde worlde. Comes a close second to New York.”

“Yep, I agree, my lady. Let’s check out the rooms.” He was planning it all. First they’d have a luxury bubble bath and drink champagne and then he would ravish her, so they needed a room with a large bathtub and a king-size bed. The great thing about America and Canada is that everything is big and spacious.

“Okay, my lord and master, you may choose the room and position. After all, Quebec was your choice.”

 “But you picked this place.”

“I’ve got good taste. It’s got eighteen floors. We want the top-floor room with a view and hopefully some interesting paying guests to haunt.”

 “Lady S, no!”

“Yes. Don’t spoil my fun.” She raced ahead of him to the elevator. “Come on. Top floor.”

They found a room they liked overlooking the river with a king-size bed in it.

“This’ll do, my lord. Let’s see who we’re sharing with.” She wandered round picking up items of clothing and looking at the luggage. Donald found two passports in the drawer by the bed.

“Don’t they have safes in this place, or are these people just silly? They’re Americans. Elderly. Joseph and Phyllis Lincoln.”

“Well, she likes french fries and burgers, looking at the size of these clothes. They’re twice the size of Miranda’s caftans. In fact, Miranda would be lost in them. And they’re cheap.”

“Never mind. Come on. Let’s hit the bath.” Donald was becoming impatient; he took her arm and pulled her into the bathroom.

“Wow, but it’s not as big as the Manhattan one.”

“No, Lady S, but we can still have fun.” He turned on the taps, found the complimentary toiletries, and poured them all in, ensuring loads of bubbles. He returned to the bedroom, found the champagne in the minibar, collected the flutes, and went back to the bath. They waited until the bath was more than half full and then tore off their clothes in haste and simultaneously jumped into the water, causing it to splash all over the floor. The taps were still running, and they splashed each other. Donald picked up the bottle of champagne from the floor before it could drift away in the water; he popped the cork and poured the wine into the two glasses. They had a glass each and linked arms as they drank. The taps were still full on, and there seemed to be more water on the floor than in the bath, but neither of them cared. This was what death was all about. Fun.

 “Let’s have some toasts.”

“Okay, Donald.” They raised their glasses and simultaneously said midst laughter, “Cheers.” Their glasses clinked together.

 “À votre santé.”

“Oh, French, Lady S. How about yamas?” They clinked the glasses again. “Avanti, fifty forty-two!”

“Oh, Donald, we’ll never forget that room or Cyprus.” She picked up some soap bubbles and blew them in his face midst laughter. “Mazeltov.”

“Mazeltov? Where did that come from, Sofia?”

“Jewish. Yiddish. Hebrew. Good luck. Cheers. Congratulations. It just came to me.”

“Okay, together then.” They clinked the glasses and said simultaneously, “Mazeltov.”

 “To fun, Sofia.”

 “To fun.”

 “To death.”

 “To death.”

 “Champagne-filled days.”

 “Champagne-filled days. Je t’aime.”

“French again?”

“This is a French-speaking place, and French is supposed to be a romantic language. France is a place of romance and amour. Love.”

 “To amour.”

“Amour.” Those flutes just kept clinking away.

 “Love you forever.”

 “Love you forever.”

 “Sex.”

 “Sex.”

“Yes, please.” He took her glass and threw both of them at the wall, knowing they would fall without shattering. This was fun, and at last they were going to have sex, first in the bath and then on that beautiful king-size bed. Just how lucky could a man get? Death really was wonderful. He put his arm across to pull her closer to him.

“That’s enough. You two are impossible. I’ve been calling you.”

“Dad.” Sofia couldn’t believe that her father had walked into the bathroom and seen them both naked in the bath.

“Scott,” Donald uttered. “What’re you doing here?”

“I’ve come to collect you. Someone’s arrived who wants to see you.”

“But we can’t leave. We haven’t had sex yet.”

“And I haven’t had the chance to haunt the people staying in the room. We haven’t finished our game. We can’t leave.”

 “You can come back later.”

“But it won’t be the same.”

“No, it won’t. We have to stay and finish the game.” Donald had no intentions of leaving before he had made love to her in the bath and on the king-size bed.

“Well, you’ll have an excuse to go somewhere else beginning with Q. That place in Algeria.”

He passed them towels and instructed them to get dressed. Suddenly they both felt like naughty schoolchildren who had been caught in the act and automatically did as they were told.

“Who wants to see us? I’m sure it can wait.”

 “Wants to see you, Donald.”

“So, I can stay and haunt?”

“No, Sweet Pea, you’re coming home, now.”

 “Dad, I’m not sixteen!”

“No, you’re dead, but you’re residing under my roof again.”

 “Who is it, Scott?”

 “Wait and see.”
  “Scott?”
“I said, wait and see.”

“Can’t we take the plane back?”

“No, Donald. No chance of the mile-high club today.”

Reluctantly, they got out of the bath and wrapped themselves in the towels before dressing. The water disappeared; there was no evidence to suggest that they had been there.

SOFIA AND LAST THOUGHTS.

Howde Folks,

Sofia and Donald still here. Lady M is enjoying the sunshine, waiting for the proof reading on her last book about us and playing with her 'Singing Horses'. She took them to the library on Monday afternoon for tea and cakes. Those who joined her there admired them and talked to them in the 'neigh' equine language which she has created.

Anyway, back to reality. I hope you've enjoyed the extracts from 'Look After Each Other' over the last three weeks and today I'm giving you the last extract from this book. Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were convinced you were living your last hours on earth but have no idea how you're going to die? Well, these were the last two days Sofia expected to see!

MARCH 2005,

At home she asked herself how people spent their last day. Those destined for execution were asked if they had any last requests. She had none having accomplished all the goals which time and circumstances had permitted and she felt completely prepared for that moment when life ceased to exist and she joined Donald, her mother and others who were already enjoying the Afterlife.

It was described by the church as simply “going into the next room”. There was nothing difficult, challenging or complicated. When the time came someone would come and collect her. She was ready. Derek had decided that tomorrow they would have a family outing to Chatsworth and Bakewell. At first she was alarmed but then realised that one does not just sit and wait for death to knock at the door but carry on with life as normal.

The thoughts of tomorrow’s destiny were floating through her mind when her father came into the kitchen at coffee-time.

‘Morning Sweet Pea. You still think your number’s up tomorrow?’

‘Morning Dad. Well, is John ever wrong?’

‘No, but as I keep telling you he did not give you a definite date. You think you’ve worked it out and YOU could be wrong.’

‘I don’t see how. I’ve been over it time and time again. Anyway, I can’t be wrong. If I am I may as well commit suicide. I’ll be broke in a few months, up to my eyes in debts I can’t pay and I could even be arrested for arson and murder.’

‘Well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. I’m off out now but I will see you again. Anyway, I don’t like final “goodbyes”.’ She heard the front door slam and he was gone.

‘Oh Sheba, it’s just you and I for the rest of the day. Will you miss me next week? I wonder how I’m going to go. It’s not cancer. Heart attack? Will we have an accident in the car? Oh, what if it’s not just me who dies tomorrow, what if we’re all killed in some awful accident? I hadn’t thought of that. Oh dear’ She bent down to stroke the dog, ‘I guess we’ll have to wait and see.’

She spent the rest of the day “channel-hopping” on the television but nothing seemed to sustain her interest. Sheba lay at her feet. ‘What a way to spend your last day on this earth. It’s like being packed and ready to go on holiday. Just waiting and waiting…’

At 3.20pm they went to collect the twins who climbed into the car in their usual state of disarray. Sheba gave Sophie the customary face wash and her tail lashed out in all directions showing her extreme pleasure at being reunited with the person who had promised to look after her.

Later, Miranda and Derek came home and the family were anticipating an exciting weekend well all apart from Sofia who expected her demise to dampen the proceedings. She was not even sure that she would wake up in the morning and so she gave both of the children an extra hug and goodnight kiss before walking out of their rooms and silently praying that she would see them tomorrow.

When she went to bed she looked back down the staircase and wondered whether she would walk down in the morning or wait for the funeral directors to carry her. Now, how many people think about that before they retire in the evening? Would it be a long or a short night? Would this be the last time she climbed into her bed? At least she would not have to endure tomorrow nights sex. That was her final positive thought before falling asleep.

Derek switched his alarm off; the birds were singing outside and the sun was shining. It was 8.00am and the start of another Saturday which he intended enjoying with his family. Miranda was already downstairs making coffee and Sophie was outside with Sheba.

It was Sheba’s distinctive bark as she ran after a ball that woke Sofia; she was still alive and it was March 5th, BINGO day. By her calculations she had no longer than sixteen hours to live. Well, at least her prayers had been answered and she would see the children today. The wisest thing for her was to enjoy every single minute before the inevitable occurred. Whatever and whenever that happened to be.

After breakfast they left in the Mercedes for Chatsworth. Sofia was seated in the front and Miranda in the back with the children and Sheba. As Derek sped out of the drive onto the road Sofia looked back at the house where until recent months she had been a prisoner and wondered if she would see it again. It was like watching the children enter the school yesterday, that long, lingering, last look or as long as it could be with Derek keen to reach his chosen destination.

By morning coffee-time they were at Chatsworth sitting in the Park, admiring the view of Chatsworth House and Sofia was still alive. No fate had befallen her or them during the journey.

‘Family, we have arrived, let us go and refresh ourselves with beverages. Sheba will remain in the car while we visit the café. We will return and all go for a stroll in this glorious Park.’

Derek had spoken and the family obeyed. After their drinks, stroll round the Park and the Garden area they continued to Bakewell for lunch and much to Miranda’s delight a look at the shops. She bought a traditional Bakewell Pudding and was rather surprised at Sofia’s reluctance to spend money. Sofia was looking around for gunmen, muggers, cars going out of control or anything which looked suspiciously like it may terminate her life at any second.

At 3.00pm when Derek declared it was time to return she pinched herself to ensure she was still alive. There was no accident on the way home. That evening everything went smoothly in the Haslington household. Miranda had prepared a casserole with jacket potatoes and mixed vegetables for their dinner with the traditional Bakewell Pudding for dessert. After dinner and when the children had gone to bed she was still breathing.

This meant that the last thing she would ever do in this life was have sex with Derek. Many would say that during sex was a brilliant time to die; they had never endured sex with Derek who confuses it with keyhole surgery. Derek spent the evening in the drawing room with Donny and the Taj Mahal until the children went to bed and then he listened to music. The females of his family were in the lounge; Miranda and Sophie watching the television while Sofia was watching the time.

At 10.00pm when the adults went upstairs her final thoughts were, Dear God what have I done to deserve the fate of sex with Derek as the last thing I will ever do on this earth. After the customary activity she fell asleep secure in the knowledge that she would not wake up in the morning.

FUN DAYS IN CYPRUS

 Howde Folks,

Hope you've all had a great week and enjoyed Donald and my little trip down memory lane to our time at the hospital fete when I embarrassed Derek by dressing or rather undressing as Lady Godiva. We all had a lot of fun that day. Downstairs, the future is unknown. I was certain that mine was going to be a short life although I had no idea HOW I was going to die. Donald had no idea at all and his untimely death came as a shock to us all. As promised, this week, I am going to tell you about the time Donald and I started our affair on holiday. We knew it was wrong. I didn't care. I just treasured every minute of my life while I still had one. Donald was more concerned; he really loved and still loves Miranda. He tried to finish it, but... well you could always read the book but for now here is what happened.

'The sun was shining as usual on Friday; the waiter brought the morning tea. When Derek, Sofia and the twins were ready they phoned Donald and met by the steps leading down to the coffee shop. Miranda was wearing a brown floral caftan which would be cooler but she still had her face with plastered in makeup. Just looking at her made Sofia realise how tanned they were after only one week of sunshine. She was still wearing her miniskirts and casual tops during the day which meant that her legs were also brown and Derek had not expressed disapproval.

They enjoyed breakfast alfresco and were looking forward to a more relaxing day after Derek’s guided tour of the island. First, it was the Jacuzzi for Sofia and a stroll along the beach towards Yeriskipou for the others before swimming, archery and a light sandwich lunch by the pool. They had found an area in the shade and Sophie was still asking to go on the glass bottom boat which for Sofia was a golden opportunity,

‘Miranda, why don’t you and Donald take the twins? I know Derek’s not particularly bothered about the experience.’

‘Yes, I am.’

‘Oh, you haven’t mentioned it so I assumed you didn’t want to go.’

‘Actually, I’m not over keen on it.’ Donald said

‘OK Why don’t Derek and I take them?’ Miranda spoke, obviously keen to be with Derek.

‘Right, Donald and I will stay here by the pool. I have my next massage at 4.00pm.’

Two excited children set off for the car park followed by Derek and Miranda leaving Sofia and her brother-in-law watching children splashing in the water.

‘Donald, if anything happens to me, I mean us you two would look after the twins wouldn’t you?’

‘What a question. Nothing’s going to happen to you but you know we would. We love them like our own. We’d really like children of our own. We keep hoping…’

‘She’s infertile…’ JT’s words were once again ringing in her ears. ‘…have you considered IVF?’

‘What, how do you know that?’

‘I don’t.’ She tried to cover up her mistake, ‘it was a question, is she infertile? Have you had tests? Have you considered IVF?’ She repeated.

‘Not yet. We’re thinking about it but hope it’ll happen naturally. Miranda’s very maternal. She’d make a good mother. You’ve seen how she is with the twins. Anyway, it might be me who’s firing blanks and to be honest I don’t think either of us wants to know if we’re incapable. IVF does seem like a last resort.’

‘Oh dear and time is marching on. In three years she’ll be forty; there’ll be even less chance of conceiving then. Maybe you need to take drastic action and face the truth before it’s too late.’

He looked across and noticed that the curtains in 5042 had been drawn and to change the subject he said, ‘The room’s just been serviced.’

‘Which one is it?’

‘The end one.’

‘Can you really see the harbour and sky dishes?’

‘Yes, all seven-hundred-and-sixty-three or was it sixty-four?’ He laughed, ‘Do you want to come up and have a look?’

‘OK.’

They left their towels on the loungers, walked round to the leisure centre and took the lift to the fifth floor. He led her onto the balcony where she was amazed at the view; it was so different from the one they had. The harbour and sky dishes were definitely visible; there was more sea and you could see over the Amathus Hotel; the derelict winery was like a dot in the middle spoiling it otherwise it was the perfect picture.

‘Look,’ she pointed at the boat, ‘isn’t that the glass bottom boat?’

‘What?’ she had been drinking in the view but he could only see Lady Godiva. He was standing next to this gorgeous naked woman in a blonde wig. ‘Yes, I believe it is.’

She waved while he was having difficulty remembering that she was his brother’s wife. Suddenly, a strange power, the magic of Cyprus or something took over. He moved towards her and kissed her on the lips; she did not move away but responded and threw her arms around him. In a clinch they moved back into the room and fell onto the bed eager to make love.

While passionately kissing they removed their swimwear and tossed the garments onto the floor. Their hearts were racing as they caressed and explored each other’s bodies. She gently stroked his penis and placed her thigh across him, eager and excited, ‘Yes, yes’ she panted with sexual desire and anticipation. They were entwined as she guided him into her.

With gentle thrusts he built up a rhythm causing the bed to shake and move against the wall but they did not hear it. He had found her G-spot which caused her to pant heavily, ‘Yes, yes, yes…’ She was aroused and in seventh heaven savouring the sensual moment. He raised himself onto his knees, she remained supine as they climaxed.

When the magic was over and they lay side by side,

‘What have we done?’

‘I think we’ve just broken one of the commandments.’

‘I’ve just had sex with my brother’s wife.’

‘That wasn’t just sex. Trust me it was exciting, passion, love.’

‘How could we let it happen?’

‘Remember, this is Aphrodite’s island; the goddess of love.’

‘Yes, but where do we go from here?’

‘Are you feeling guilty?’

‘Of course, I’ve never been unfaithful before.’

‘Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance; always remember that.’ She thought she knew the reason. Donald was the answer to her prayers; the person to take her to a casino, and to the Acropolis. He was the ideal person to join the Mile High Club and then there was her new idea: Tantric sex. He would be the right partner for that. ‘Have you tried Tantric?’

‘Yes, of course. We’ve tried most things and positions in the hope of Miranda getting pregnant. We’ve just experienced The Twining position; it’s one of the first ones mentioned in the Kama Sutra. ’

‘Really? A position from the famous manual?’ She thought it was good and had just discovered another area where the two brothers were completely different. Derek was a zero in bed but Donald was a hero; brilliant, caring and sensuous lover. She deserved a better sex life than Derek gave her. ‘We could have a proper affair.’

‘I can’t believe you’re suggesting that.’

‘Why not?’ She had less than two-hundred days left, so it didn’t matter anyway.

He was thinking of how he had betrayed both his brother and his wife but then he had always been attracted to Sofia.

‘They’ll be back soon. We have to get back to the pool.’ He got up and she smiled when she realised that it was not only the hair parting which Donald had on the right and Derek had on the left.

‘Think about it. We could have fun together. We’re always the quiet couple while Derek and Miranda monopolise things. You know you’re attracted to me.’

Again, she could hear JT’s warning that it would end in disaster but she did not care. She looked at her watch; it was almost time for her massage. They dressed and she carefully rearranged the bed so that Miranda would not be suspicious and together they left the room. He went to the pool not really believing what had happened between them while secretly wanting it to continue while she went for her massage thinking that everything was working out well for her.'

Next week I'll give you a little more of my story.
Until then, have a great week and remember to make hay while the sun shines. Donald and I certainly did.

Love,

Sofia!

Sofia and Lady Godiva

Coming soon... LOVE YOU FOREVER,

"It's been 5 years since Sofia died, and she and the other spirits "upstairs" continue and watch the dramatic events and devastating consequences that unfold on the earthly plane. This is book 3 in the Sofia Trilogy."

There's still time to read the first two books, LOOK AFTER EACH OTHER and SOFIA'S LEGACY. Simply send a message on the comments, or they are available from Amazon, other online retailers and good book shops. Don't want to buy them? Borrow them from your local library.

Howde Folks,

Hope you've all had a great week and enjoyed reading how it all began for me.

Donald and I have been reminiscing. We've been thinking about our early years downstairs before our accidents. Our childhood days, how I met Derek at the hospital and then married him making Donald my brother-in-law. He, then, met my best friend, Miranda and she became the love of his life. Of course, we know that none of this was just coincidence. It all happened as it was meant to. We thought about our last months downstairs and fell into hysterics when we remembered the hospital fete and my appearance as Lady Godiva. Donald said that I should share the experience with you so...

It was July 24th, the day of the summer fête and the first of her remaining two-hundred-and twenty-four days. If all went well she would achieve the second goal on her “Do or Die” List today.

Somehow, during the last couple of weeks the idea of her arriving in Gerald’s car as Lady Godiva and sitting naked for two hours to collect money for the hospital had all been Derek’s idea, part of his plan when he suggested fancy dress to boost funds. He had even decided that he would accompany her as Leofric 111, the Earl of Mercia and Donny would be Alfgar, Godiva and Leofric’s son. They would dress as aristocrats in Anglo-Saxon England in the eleventh century. Sophie was to be a lady-in-waiting to Godiva.

She, in the last two weeks had spent the rest of her £1,000 on more makeup, nail varnish, another dress, skirt, designer sunglasses and brown stiletto shoes. Derek was now aware of her knee length skirts and shoes but she was saving the miniskirts as a holiday surprise. He would never allow her to wear shorts; he did not like other men ogling her long, sexy legs. Even by the swimming pool she would have to wear a sarong and remove it only when going into the pool.

The children were on the six week summer holiday. She and Derek had attended the Parents’ Evening; Sofia knew that it would be the last one she would go to and for her it had been tinged with sadness. They had seen some of their projects on display and received glowing comments from staff.

Their school reports had also been excellent. Derek would not allow anything less. He read every word carefully, any grade less than A- was not satisfactory and he thought he was being generous by allowing a minus. He interviewed his children in the library individually after he had studied the reports. It was in preparation for later in life and would give them an advantage over other candidates if they were used to interview techniques and procedures. Fortunately, they both received straight A’s and their father congratulated them both on the achievement whilst warning them that there was no room for complacency. To be the best you needed to give your best.

Now, the day of the fête had arrived and the weather was fine so the event would take place in the gardens. They left “Haslington Towers” at 1.00pm dressed in their costumes. Sofia was wearing her nurses’ cloak, wedge sandals, Godiva wig and full makeup.

Derek parked in his reserved place at the hospital. They could see Gerald and Victoria, (his 1954 Austin Healey red sports car); it had already attracted a crowd. When Gerald dressed as Othello, complete with face mask and dark gloves to give the appearance of being black, saw Derek’s family he bellowed across to them,

‘Good day to you, my Lord Leofric. How goes it with you and the dear Lady Godiva?’ He gave a mock bow and then roared his raucous laugh and was applauded by everyone around him from Canute to The Pope. All eyes were on Sofia, who casually strolled across the car park, carefully climbed into the passenger seat of Victoria and adjusted the wig before removing her cloak.

Donald and Miranda dressed as Robin Hood and Maid Marian along with her father (Friar Tuck) began the cheering as Othello drove Lady Godiva round the hospital grounds for twenty minutes before arriving in the garden. The family were assembled waiting for them along with Joanna, Gerald’s wife who was surprisingly sober and fulfilling the role of Desdemona. On the front of the vehicle was a placard, Lady Godiva rides in Nottingham. The local press were taking photographs and Derek plied them with information; he could never permit his wife to upstage him.

She spent the rest of the afternoon smiling sweetly. Sophie held a bucket for donations and because people admired Sofia’s nerve for sitting naked in a vintage car they put their hands in their pockets and produced extra cash. When totalled there was £1,056.28 in the bucket ranging from £20 notes to pennies. Gerald had put the first £20 note in and Derek, determined not to be outdone donated a second one and the rest just flowed in. It had been a tremendous success.

That evening was a happy one at “Haslington Towers” and even Saturday night sex was bearable. Spirits were still high at Sunday brunch and the fête was the main topic of conversation. Photographs of Lady Godiva in Victoria and the winner of the fancy dress competition would be in Monday’s edition of The Nottingham Post.

The Pearly Queen won the prize; she was a student nurse who had a costume with over twenty thousand buttons on it.

In a couple of weeks they were going to Cyprus. The island was in the news because the British Olympics team were staying there before going to Athens. Somehow, seeing the place on television most evenings had added excitement to their holiday....
And that folks is where I'm going to leave it this week. Next week, I'll share some of that Cyprus holiday with you. It was the holiday that changed everything for Donald and I.
Make every moment magical.
Love, Sofia!
